Moldovans with Romanian citizenship could be sentenced to imprisonment in case of multiple voting

Moldovans with Romanian citizenship, who would try to vote is several polling stations during in Romanian presidential elections, may be imprisoned for up to three years. Multiple vote is qualified in Romania as a criminal offence, which is to be punished through imprisonment.
“Polling sections in Chişinău are equal to the special sections, which are set out for citizens from other localities. All these special sections will be compared. All numbers shall be introduced in computer. If they will vote in two different stations in Basarabia, they will be compared and thus the name and identity will be revealed“, declared for OMEGA agency the spokesman of the Social Democratic Party of Romania, Bogdan Niculescu-Duvăz, emphasising that under such conditions, the person who voted twice “could be convicted by Romanian law, including through imprisonment from six months to three years“.
According to Duvăz, Moldovans with Romanian citizenship should show at the polling stations “identity documents at the level of identity card “, which “shall be stamped and signed“.
13 polling sections for Romanian presidential elections were set out in Republic of Moldova, but they lack approved lists of voters for each polling station. Romanian presidential poll is being held on this November 22. 12 candidates are running in these elections.
